Free gear

Postby GrahameR » Sat 19 Apr, 2025 3:43 pm

Hi, I'm not able to hike any more so have some gear to give away. But as this forum asks for 'only one item per topic' how do I go about 'advertising' multiple items?

Is there ever a Melbourne swap meet or such?

And what is PIF? [edit: Pay It Forward presumably]

Cheers, Grahame

Just send it all to me and I'll take care of everything [ joke as I already have way too much stuff ] but I think that using the PIF subsection multiple items may be OK.
I know my days are numbered but I am resisting that day.

Thanks Moondog55 but I have too much stuff to do individual PIFs. Some stuff like a shell, sleeping bag or backpack fair enough but I've also got thermal leggings, buffs, s/bag liners, dry sacks, ziplocks, pack cover ... not a lot of big important stuff.

Suppose I could PIF individual items and when people come they can also take anything else of interest.

If I can't find anything satisfactory here I might just go along to the start of a Meet Up hike and get rid of it there.

Again thanks

If you have facebook you could advertised on Gearfreak.
Otherwise happy to advertise for you if you send me a list and pics. Otherwise your alternative ideas sounds good, I can't imagine it would be too hard to give away gear.

Grahame, I am president of the Tasmanian University Bushwalking Club and we're always looking for donations, if you'd like to get rid of it all send me a PM and we can take care of the shipping + put a bit of extra cash in there for the hassle of packing it all up?

Let me know.

Cheers all. I'm in the process of sending it all to the Tas Uni Bushwalking Club.

Thanks

PS: Anyone know anyone coming back on the ferry that I could pass it to in Melbourne?

I don't but we live a stones throw from the ferry terminal and we could hold it here if you want. somebody on the way back could then pick it up here before boarding

Cheers Moondog55. Of course the terminal is on the Bellarine now. Hrrrrmph!

Anyway I've worked out how to include the 28L pack which was the main issue. So now it's AusPost v courier.

Cheers
